Oak Processionary Moth (OPM) Caterpillars

The Mitcham Common manager has advised us to send out a note about Oak Processionary Moth (OPM) caterpillars.

These caterpillars have tiny hairs that can be blown about by the wind and cause itchy skin rashes, eye and throat irritations and, occasionally, breathing difficulties in people and animals. If you see them on the Common, definitely don’t touch them, but even better to stay well away from them!
